Pine tar, triethanolamine lauryl sulfate.
Pinetarsol Solution contains pine tar 2.3% and triethanolamine lauryl sulfate 6%, an anionic surfactant. It has a pH of 6.5.
Pharmacology: Antipruritic and cleansing, maintains natural acid protection; anti-inflammatory; removes psoriatic scales.
Relief of itching & inflammation associated with dermatitis, eczema, chickenpox, heat rash, psoriasis, urticaria. Pruritus and inflammation associated with variety of skin conditions including; dermatitis, including allergic contact dermatitis, neurodermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis; eczema, including infantile eczema, varicose ulcers, scalp eczema; chickenpox (varicella); heat rash (Miliaria rubra) and sunburn; psoriasis (subacute and chronic); urticaria (hives, insect bites); eruptions in the napkin area; anal or genital itching; other conditions where skin irritation is a problem.
Maximum therapeutic effect is obtained by using Pinetarsol Solution in the bath, but it is still effective if used under the shower or as a sponge bath.
Bath: Add 15-30 mL to a tepid bath (5 mL to a baby's bath or hand basin) and bathe for 5-10 min once daily; more often in severe cases. Do not use soap. Dry gently. Pinetarsol Solution does not stain skin, bath or towel.
Shower: Apply directly to the wet skin, leave for a few minutes, rinse. Do not use soap. Dry gently.
Patients in Bed, Elderly: Add 10 mL in 3 L of warm water; sponge freely. Do not use soap. Dry gently.
Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients of Pinetarsol Solution.
For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes. If any lather enters the eyes, flush with clean water.
